Glober manufactures furniture with very high quality standards. Their products are made of furniture boards covered with solid aluminum sheets, and glass. They have been in business for 58 years and have a solid reputation for quality, design and service.
With Glober’s new manufacturing capacity, this super clean collection is executed to perfection.
Details include a 3/8 thick glass top with rounded edges, giving the pieces a soft feel while boosting a bold look. The clean line is carried to the front facade with a curtain of glass covering the drawers. There again, de Blois’s mastery of cleanliness strikes with perfect alignment and order.
Drawers are literally wrapped in a soft contoured metal, then covered with glass. The massive construction is placed on equally substantial feet, making the furniture float above the ground, yet still maintaining a clean, « easy to work with » look.

Bold for a bed : Is what appears to have been on de Blois’s mind when he designed the headboard. It is made of a long and shallow sleek monolith, much like crystal, which runs across the headboard, exceeding the matress edges and over the night tables. De Blois has been quoted to design with a sense of “understated sophistication” ††. With this new intro for Glober, one feels this collection certainly has a high fashion european flair. The bed not only is beautiful, it also has the quality of being quick to assemble and compact to ship, both qualities that retailers will appreciate. The dresser mirror somehow epitomizes the collection: A bold monolith block running along the back supports a curtain of mirrored glass, falling much like a waterfall. The mirror is detached from wall creating depth and lightness. Other pieces include a leaner featuring the softly contoured metal wrap with a nicely scaled stand for the mirrored panel, a three and six drawer chest, and two TV armoires.

Element is a very good name for the collection. It is clean, pure and yet, like nature’s elements, this collection is tailored to show many different flavors : It is available in six glass colors and ten metal finishes.

Glober is reputed for its outstanding quality of construction and service. One can undoubtedly predict they will carve a landmark with this design, and de Blois’s line-up for a third bedroom Pinnacle Award is a sure bet. De Blois’s other staple collections include Java and Soho ( 2001 Pinnacle Award ), both made by Baronet. “This collaboration with Glober is very good” says de Blois. Other products he designed for Glober include the Eclipse buffet and a console
.

Description:

The bed incorporates a frosted glass headboard. The glass is supported by a square tubing metallic frame and “L” shape support brackets. A continuous shelf runs behind the headboard. The shelf is part of the side tables assembly and they are offered as an option, separate from the bed.

Inspiration

Transparency: A word more often heard about objects than corporations…Perhaps it is one reason we turn to our homes for peacefulness. Transparency in objects has invaded our home environment. It reflects our unconscious need to live in integrity on a personal level. Clean and bright objects thus provide a peaceful environment that allow art and people to come to the forefront. This arrangement of surfaces and their materiality brings new possibilities for the placement of the bed in a room. Because it does not hide, but values what is behind, it can be placed away from the wall or against a window…

The intention we pursued in creating this design is to provide such a canvas for what we believe is the ultimate shelter for our humanity: The place we sleep. This idea has many branches:

The first involves our sense of warmth: for this we provided a surface behind a translucent headboard, on which light sources can be placed to softly illuminate through the frosted glass.

An other dimension is the need for security: to address this aspect, we made the headboard frame strong and clean, with long metallic supports for the glass. Horizontal bars are placed only to provide perceptual support for the glass. The tubes do not touch the glass.

The architecture of the bed provides comfort. It has a sloped back that is ergonomic: The lights placed behind the headboard plate glass will warm-up the surface to the touch. The side tables rotate about their support, which is off centered, thus placing the table further or closer to the bed.

As the bedroom plays a great act in the theater of the sentimental expression of our life, such a backdrop becomes a scene for statements: Objects placed behind the headboard are perceived, but not visible. As humans share their life with their mate, the bed invites them to share their icons and taboos in intimacy. Our intention was to create a bed that is not just pretty. It makes people look their best and enjoy being there. It welcomes the softness of intimate relationships. That, again, is something hardly found.
